Farmo App Update: August 2025

Date: 6th August 2025

Smarter insights. Faster decisions. Built for the way you farm.

We've just released our latest Farmo App version, with many big updates. Designed in collaboration with real farmers, this version introduces powerful new tools that give you more control, greater automation, and better visibility across your farm - all from the palm of your hand.

With a cleaner interface and intuitive workflows, the Farmo App makes it easier than ever to stay connected to your farm, whether you’re in the paddock or in town.

Read below to see all the new features we've brought to the Farmo App.

Schedule Reports – Let the Data Come to You

Many customers like a quick email summary, alongside using the app for deeper insights. Scheduled Reports now give you this convenience.

With Scheduled Reports, you’ll be able to receive custom reports straight to your inbox automatically, at a frequency that suits you.

Once set up, your reports like the one below will arrive on a regular basis with a summary of your organisation's device data.

Rainfall Comparison: Nearest Weather Station & Long-Term Averages

Rainfall is always top of mind for farmers. This new Rainfall Comparison feature makes it easier to see how your rainfall stacks up against previous years and regional averages.

Using your Rain Gauge's device coordinates, the Farmo App will automatically find the nearest official weather station based on your device’s location, giving you a reliable benchmark to measure your data against long-term trends.

For deeper insights, our the app now has a Compare to Long Term Average mode, displaying overlay charts that put your rainfall readings side-by-side with historical averages, all within your device data charts.

Daily Rainfall Calculation: Choose 12AM or 9AM Start

You can now set when a “rainfall day” begins for your site. Pick 12 AM (midnight) to align with the calendar day, or 9 AM if you prefer to start the count in the morning. The option you choose determines how daily totals are calculated and displayed across charts and reports.

  • Adjust the start time from your rain gauge’s Configure screen.
  • Changes apply to new incoming data and how daily summaries are grouped.
  • This helps match local practice or external reporting standards on your farm.

Battery Life Estimate

The Farmo App now shows an estimated percentage of battery life remaining for your device.

How it works:

  • The battery percentage is an estimate only - actual performance may vary depending on usage and environmental factors.
  • Every time the device sends data, it consumes a small amount of battery power.
  • As your device operates, the percentage will gradually decrease based on the number of messages sent.

When replacing a battery:

  • Record the replacement in the device’s configuration.
  • This will reset the battery estimate to 100%.

Recommendation: Replace the battery when the remaining life falls below 10% to ensure uninterrupted operation.

Why did we add this?  The long lasting Lithium batteries in your device keep 90% of their voltage until the last few weeks of their life; hence voltage isn't a very accurate indicator of how much life they have left. It's more accurate to calculate the amount of messages a device can send on one battery in normal conditions, and then count the messages sent to determine how much battery life remains.

Maintaining adequate battery levels ensures the device can continue transmitting data without interruption, reducing the risk of missed readings and supporting consistent farm monitoring.

Configure Water Level Monitors Remotely

For Water Level Monitors with the latest firmware, you can now adjust key settings remotely from the Farmo App.

These smart devices allow you to set upper and lower water level thresholds. Once configured, the device will send an immediate update whenever the water level crosses either limit. This helps you keep an eye on preventing tanks from running dry or overflowing, and you can automate water movement using this with our Remote Pump Controller.

From the Configure screen, you’ll be able to:

  • Set Report Period – choose how often the device sends data
  • Set Upper Threshold – the high-water trigger that prompts the device to send an update before overflow
  • Set Lower Threshold – the low-water trigger that prompts the device to send an update before the tank runs dry

All settings are saved directly to the device, allowing you to fine-tune performance without a site visit. This means you can respond quickly to changes, avoid costly water loss, and keep your operations running smoothly.

Note: This feature is available only on Water Level Monitor devices shipped after May 2025.

A Quick Reminder

7/30 Day Graph Picker

Don’t forget that you can already view long trends more easily with the 7-day and 30-day graph options, available across all devices.
